About Cipher
Securing the next generation of software
Cipher was founded on a single observation: AI tools are generating production code at unprecedented speed, and the security tools we rely on were never designed for this reality.
Mission
To secure the next generation of software built by AI.
We believe AI-generated code will represent the majority of production software within the next five years. Cipher exists to ensure that shift happens safely — with verified security at every stage of the development lifecycle.
Vision
Trusted AI software at scale.
A future where AI-generated software can be trusted at scale — because security verification is autonomous, intelligent, and continuous. Not reactive. Not manual. Not dependent on human review for every finding.
Core Belief
AI-generated code requires AI-native security.
Security tools from the previous era were built for human-written software — manual review cycles, pattern-matching engines, signature databases. Cipher was designed from the ground up for code that ships at machine speed.
Why this problem, now
AI coding agents — Copilot-style tools, autonomous dev agents, internal codegen systems — have fundamentally changed the velocity, ownership patterns, and risk surface of modern software. Code is being generated faster than any human team can review it.
Existing security tools (Snyk, Checkmarx, Veracode, GitHub Advanced Security) were not built for AI-generated patterns, autonomous code mutation, or the rapid CI/CD iteration that LLM-speed development demands. Their false positive rates — already problematic — become untenable when applied to AI-generated codebases.
Cipher defines a new category: AI-Native Application Security. We don't just scan for patterns. We verify vulnerabilities by attempting controlled exploits. We confirm what is real. We dismiss what is noise.
Team
Built by engineers who've lived the problem — from security teams overwhelmed by false positives to developers blocked by tools that don't understand their code.
